| 2010-08-27 | County Swimming Team Selection Meeting |
| Clubs are reminded that there is a swimming selection meeting on Wednesday 1st September to select the Leicestershire Team to compete at the National Inter County Team Event on Sunday 17th October 2010. The meeting starts at 7.30pm and is held at New Parks Community Centre The age groups for the event are girls & boys 12/13, 14/15, 16/17. Age as at 17th October 2010. If any club is unable to send a representative and wishes to submit times for any club swimmers please email these to Sue Wainscot on sue.wainscot@elts.me.uk All individual events are 100m for all four strokes & there is a 4 x 50m medley relay. | |

| The entry information for the above has been circulated to all club secretaries Will all clubs ensure that coaches and teachers are given this information and as many young swimmers as possible are given the opportunity to participate The age range is 8-10 years (age at 12th June 2011) The 3 rounds are as follows: 25th September 2010: Loughborough University Pool (short course)2pm warm up 20th November 2010: Braunstone Pool 6pm warm up 22nd January 2011: Braunstone Pool 6pm warm up All swimmers compete in a 200m Freestyle race and a 100m Individual Medley race The closing date for entries is the 4th September 2010 | |

| Sophie Smith has secured a second individual gold medal winning the 200m Individual Medley event at the European Junior Swimming Championships in Helsinki This was a close race and her winning time of 2.14.48 is a British 15 year old Age Group Record Sophie is returning with 4 medals in total with her first gold in the 400m Individual Medley & 2 silver medals from the 4 x 100m and 4 x 200m Freestyle Relays. Her times in the relays were 56.14 and 1.59.96 Congratulations to Sophie & hopefully she will be able to bring her medals to the next county organised event for a photo & autograph session! | |
